The Soul Doctor Method

A Simple Grounding Practice

Grounding brings your awareness back into your body and into connection with the present moment. It is helpful when you feel scattered, anxious, unmoored, or simply “in your head.” This practice can be done anywhere — standing, sitting, or even lying down.

The Practice

Begin by bringing your attention to your feet. If you are standing, feel the weight of your body pressing down through your soles into the floor or earth. If sitting, feel your sitting bones against the chair and your feet resting on the ground.

Notice the points of contact. The pressure. The temperature. The texture beneath you.

Now imagine roots extending from the soles of your feet — or from the base of your spine if seated — down into the earth. These roots do not need to be visualised in detail. Simply feel the downward pull, the sense of connection to something vast and stable beneath you.

Let your breath deepen naturally. With each exhale, allow any tension, racing thoughts, or scattered energy to drain down through these roots into the earth. The earth receives it easily.

With each inhale, draw up a sense of steadiness, stability, and calm support from below.

Continue for as long as feels right — even one minute can shift your state significantly.

As you settle into this grounded state, allow a soft smile to rise. Feel into your heart and let gratitude flow — for the earth beneath you, for your body, for this moment of stillness. Gratitude deepens and expands the practice.

When complete, wiggle your toes, feel the ground beneath you, and return your attention to the room.

Notes

Grounding is not about escaping your experience — it is about being fully present within it.

If you struggle to feel your feet or body, begin by simply noticing your breath or the feeling of clothing against your skin.

This practice pairs well with the Clearing & Protection practice — grounding first often makes clearing more effective.

Return to the ground beneath you as often as you need. It is always there, steady and patient, waiting to receive you.

With warmth,

Larissa
